How the feed works
The order of the feed, how people talk to each other, what levels mean, what is stopped and why. No ranking by reactions. Nobody can buy a place.
This page is still awaiting review by a qualified lawyer. Last updated .
1. The order of the feed
The feed and the topic lists show the newest first. Nothing is pushed up because many people liked it, marked it helpful or opened it.
- Reactions are there for the person who wrote the post. They do not change its place or who sees it.
- Nobody can buy a higher place. There are no promoted posts, and nothing in the directory or in search can be bought.
2. How people talk to each other
- There are no ratings, reviews, or endorsements. Nobody is “recommended” or “endorsed” here.
- Members start conversations with professionals. A professional answers a member; a professional does not write first to a member.
- Answers are general information for everyone reading. They are not advice on your case.
3. Levels
Some features open with a level. A level is worked out from what a member has done, checked on each visit. It cannot be bought, and nothing about it is kept as a judgement of the person.
- Member: everyone starts here.
- Contributor: several replies from different people were marked as helpful, and the account has been open for some time.
- Mentor: a verified visa holder who has completed at least one mentoring session.
- Verified professional: a licence and authorisation that were checked, and are still in force.
4. What is stopped, and why
- Claims about the result of a visa or an application, such as a result that is certain or a fixed share of people who succeed. Nobody can know those in advance, so a sentence that makes such a claim is not published. A sentence that says the opposite is fine.
- A long text you already posted in the last 24 hours, almost word for word. Short messages, such as a thank-you, are not counted as repeats.
- Too many posts or messages in a short time. The limit follows the level and is shown as a short wait, not as a warning.
When a sentence is stopped, the page says so in one calm line and keeps what you wrote, so you can change the sentence and send it again.
5. What we tell you, and what we do not
- Nothing is sent to your e-mail or phone until you turn it on. The exceptions are a few notices you need: a decision on your professional application, and a status change on a complaint you filed. Every notification is also in the app. A weekly summary is sent only if you turn it on, and never more than once a week.
- Nobody is told that someone looked at their profile.
The principles behind all of this are written in full in our community health note, and the community rules are on their own page.
